Online Learning Coach (Coding)

Mission:
What is Mindjoy?
Mindjoy is a social learning platform where kids get together to connect, collaborate and code through live virtual coding session. Kids work on real-world, hands-on coding projects.
Learning is something most people do best with others but a challenge is that each person learns differently and has different preferences. Online learning provides us with a way to connect children easily with others who are:
1. motivated in learning things that they are interested in;
2. learn in a similar style; and
3. are at a similar level.
Developing a life-long love of learning is a critical skill future skill, enabling people to be resilient and agile as well as increase self-reliance in a rapidly changing world. Having experiences in which we experience what it means to be seen and heard, in other words taken seriously and respected, is core to developing resilient children.

The role:
You will enjoy working with us if you:
Are curious about the world of education, innovation and technology;
Want to be a change-maker in the education space;
Enjoy learning new things and making cool stuff;
Enjoy challenges and developing your mind and practice;
Get excited by interactive, lively, hands-on STEAM learning;
The ideal Mindjoy Coach:
Is a progressive educator or has a qualification in Education or TEFL; or
Is studying towards a STEAM-related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) with an excellent academic track record;
Is willing to learn and coach Python Coding (if you don’t have a coding background, you can start this basic for Educators course in the meantime (we do ask candidates to complete this should they join us with non-STEAM backgrounds but please apply in the meantime🤓 )
Loves working with kids (ages 8-12)
Is comfortable with educational technology, teaching online on Zoom or similar
Bonus: Is passionate about gaming / science / coding / robotics / engineering
You will:
Prepare for and facilitate online coding sessions (content provided by Mindjoy);
Support & monitor student progress and provide feedback on progress;
Encourage discussion, thinking for oneself and collaboration in your class;
Develop your coaching practice;
Use online tools like Google Workspace, Zoom & Replit
Inspire the next generation of innovators, creators and coders!
Contract details:
This is a contract, remote position, and market-related compensation is given.
Online classes run on weekdays between 3 pm - 6:30 pm and the number of hours worked will depend on how many sessions you facilitate
We will inform Round 2 candidates of financial compensation for this position.
