Assessments FAQ

What is the purpose of assessments on IPN?
The purpose of assessments is to help NGOs :
Assess where they stand with respect to their capabilities across different Organisation Development (OD) areas
Initiate their capacity- building journey by providing access to customised Learning and Capacity Building (CB) recommendations.
Who should take this assessment?
Any organization keen to assess their capabilities and current state across different OD areas can take this assessment.
An organization keen to initiate its CB journey, but unaware of where to start, can also use this assessment as a starting point to gather CB recommendations
Within an organization, it is ideal for the person managing the functional or organizational development (OD) area to take the assessment. The assumption is that this individual is best placed to answer the questions within the assessment as accurately as possible.
Do these assessments cost anything?
No, these assessments are completely free of charge.
How often can we take assessments on the IPN platform?
Currently this assessment can be taken only one time by one particular user within the organization. In future IPN will allow you to repeat an assessment.
How long does it take to complete the assessments?
Any assessment on IPN will consist of 4-5 key sections with 4-5 questions under each of these sections. An organization should take about 10-15 minutes to complete the assessment.
Can multiple team members from our NGO take the assessments?
Yes. While multiple members can take the assessment, please note that the assessment is relevant at an organization level and not at a user level.
It is recommended that the person handling the functional or organisational development (OD) area take the assessment. The assumption is that this individual is best placed to answer the questions within the assessment as accurately as possible.
Also an “In Progress” assessment cannot be shared with another user. Once started by a user, the assessment can only be completed by the same user.
What recommendations will we receive after the assessments?
Once an NGO completes the assessment, they will be shown a report with their maturity mapped within that specific Organisational Development(OD) area and sub areas.
Based on the maturity, NGO will be provided tailored recommendations including tutorials, templates, toolkits, list of service providers, courses, programmes, and expert connects — all designed to help the NGO build its capacity in a targeted manner.
Are the assessments aligned with any standards or frameworks?
No, the assessments are not aligned with standard frameworks. They are co-created with subject matter experts in the relevant OD area, drawing on their experience and expertise to reflect market expectations.
Who from my organisation will be able to view the assessment rating?
Currently only the user who takes the assessment will be able to view the ratings and recommendations. In future IPN will allow you to download and share the ratings and recommendations across the organization.
Can we share our assessment results with other stakeholders?
The assessment is for the purpose of organization’s internal awareness and capacity building, and not relevant for sharing with other stakeholders.
Will the assessments have an impact on my organisation’s ability to receive funds via IPN?
No, the assessments don’t guarantee any funding or donor connects. It is designed solely to build the capacity of NGOs and does not promise any financial support. IPN will not share your organisation’s assessment result with any donor. It is for NGO internal use only.
