Presentation

light
We’ve found that learning about how a PM thinks with a light take-home exercise is helpful. We think it’s a realistic proxy for what working together really feels like, since it allows you to get a bit of extra time to think about a problem deeply and present your answer in the most natural ways.
This presentation should take you no more than 3 hours to prepare.
Duration: 1 hour
Below are a couple of prompts to choose from. These prompts are intended to be “neutral ground” prompts - i.e. not in an area well-known to the candidate or to the Superhuman team. Feel free to pick whichever one is most interesting to you. And feel free to make educated guesses about questions you would need answered or data you would need to gather.❗️Be sure to include drawings, mockups, or even fleshed out prototypes of your final product.
One way to frame the presentation for the prompts below might be to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur pitching your product to investors ー either literally or using a similar format to a pitch that includes the vision and value proposition, framing of the problem, target market and opportunity, reasoning behind your solution, etc.

Presentation Outline ⏱

For the presentation, you should prepare about 45-50 minutes of content and expect 10-15 minutes of questions. You can choose whether to take questions as you go or hold them to the end ー just let us know. Below is some guidance on how to split your time.

Background Overview
Give us an idea of who you are, what your career journey looked like and what you’re passionate about.
20 mins
Project Deep Dive
Give us a sense of breadth and depth - show us the breadth of things you've worked on and give us a peek at something deeper.
Help us understand your process - showing your decision-making process, intermediate work on the way to an outcome (0-1), alternatives you considered, learnings you had, etc.
Include past flows, mock-ups, or even old pics of whiteboard sessions, etc, where applicable.
Since products are built by teams, it is also important to highlight your exact role and contribution to this case.
You can assume that the panel has never heard of the company or the product, so adding the context of the situation is essential.
Help us see what you’re most proud of in your work - specific moments of insight, challenges overcome, etc.
Help us understand who you are - what motivates you, where you feel strong vs weak

What are the hard tradeoffs?
🤖 AI Webinar Host
AI Webinar Host (new product). You have been asked to build a new product that uses AI technology to create a virtual webinar host. What should the product look and feel like?
How would you bring it to market?
What are the hard tradeoffs?
You can focus on whatever you think is most interesting. We expect that you spend about three hours on it.
Past candidates have:

Tips ✨

We encourage you to spend no more than 3 hours on the exercise. You won’t be able to get to everything, but find some elements of the prompt that really excite you, and spend time going deeper into those.
The more you can explain and signpost your thinking as you work through the problem, the better. While it’s important to spend time framing the issue and sharing some of your broader ideas and research, we definitely want to see the specs you’ve built out.
The mock ups don't have to be too hi-fi, but they should be clear, thought-through and take the user into account. The user flow for what you show should work, and be realistic. Don’t be afraid to think creatively about your solution!
Be conscious of time so there is space for Q&A with the team.

Framing 🌅
The team is interested in understanding how you think through issues at the big picture level, as well as knowing about your specific contributions to key moments in projects, and what drove the decisions behind them.
We’re curious about the frameworks and principles you apply when making decisions, and your general approach as a PM. In particular how you deal with trade-offs and how you solve for various constraints or tensions, as well as your empathy for the end user.
What are some of the mistakes made, and lessons learned, as well as the big wins!

Note on Video Recording

A few members of the team might not be able to make the presentation, so we want to ask if it'd be okay to record this session so they can watch at a later time. No worries if not, but please do let us know.

Check List

Prepare and plan for 45 min of content, and 15 min for Q&A.
