chopping board - a thin, flat piece of cut wood, hard plastic, or other hard material, used for cutting food on
tablespoon - (the amount held by) a large spoon used for measuring or serving food
teaspoon - a small spoon used to stir (= mix) tea or coffee in a cup
masher - a kitchen tool for mashing potatoes and other vegetables

simmer - to cook something liquid, or something with liquid in it, at a temperature slightly below boiling
thicken - to (cause to) become thicker
peeled - (fruit and vegetables) with removed skin
chives - the long, thin leaves of a plant with purple flowers, used in cooking to give a flavour similar to onions
boil - to reach, or cause something to reach, the temperature at which a liquid starts to turn into a gas
evaporation - the process of a liquid changing to a gas, especially by heating
mash - to crush food, usually after cooking it, so that it forms a soft mass
