Stand mixer/ hand mixer.
Measuring cup
Tablespoon
Teaspoon
Medium-sized mixing bowl
Tin opener
Wooden spoon
Ovenproof pie dish (around 25cm)
Cooking spray (or something else to grease your pan with)
Sharp knife
Spatula (for scraping)
Apple Crumble:
Ingredients for the pastry:
125 g butter
1 cup sugar (white or brown)
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp flour
Ingredients for the filling:
2 x 385g tins sliced apples
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp brown sugar
Notes
Turn on the oven to 1800C/3560F.
Cream together butter and sugar using the stand mixer.
Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix.
Add flour and baking powder and make a stiff dough.
Put slightly more than half into a pie dish.
Place the tinned apples in a bowl and combine with the cinnamon and sugar.
Spread pie apples over the dough in the pie dish.
Place the leftover dough back into the stand mixer and add extra flour and cinnamon, and mix.
Sprinkle over the top of the dishes.
Bake at 1800C for 45 mins. Sprinkle caster sugar on top.
