As a mother of seven with almost twenty years experience in home education, I get such joy when I can encourage other parents by sharing what I am learning along the way. I would love to collaborate with you as you navigate your own homeschooling journey.
Are you struggling to find a philosophy or curriculum that matches the needs and goals of your family?
Do you need help creating a realistic schedule that ebbs and flows with the ever changing needs family life entails?
Would you like worthy book and resource recommendations that encourage a love of good, true, and beautiful things without harmful elements that might contradict your faith?
Are you nervous about facilitating the needs of your high schooler and need a little help juggling the requirements, transcripts, and future goals of your student?
Would you like some guidance as you build your family culture around a love of learning?
Do you need help creating systems that encourage independence with age appropriate expectations?
Are you struggling to make your physical space serve your needs?
I can help!
My personal philosophy most closely aligns with that of Charlotte Mason, and I am drawn to much that would be considered Classical. Early in my homeschooling journey, I read author and blogger Melissa Wiley’s description of her homeschool, and she coined the phrase “tidal homeschooling” to describe her approach. Like her, we have high tide periods where our studies are more formal and traditional looking and low tide periods where it looks closer to unschooling with more freedom for independent learning.
I have spent many years among many kinds of homeschoolers both online and in real life, and I think I can help you find your own personal philosophy and develop the tools you need to best implement it!
Large family life is busy, and I tend our schedule with care, training my teen children to contribute and maintain their own commitments within our shared family calendar. I have worked to create systems that afford optimal levels of independence in my children while still assuring accountability for us all.
Over the years, I developed and used many methods for lesson plans, assignment checklists, and schedules. I was thrilled when I discovered Coda, quickly gaining proficiency in my excitement to find a medium I love that perfectly marries the aesthetic of a document with the organizational power of spreadsheets and databases. Its interactive nature allows me to communicate expectations clearly and concisely with regular input from my students. But when you break the system down to its fundamentals, you can do what I do with post-its and checklists if paper is more your speed. I can help you create a system that works for you! With an eye for the aesthetic and attention to detail, I can work with you to find something that meets your needs in this current season of life!
My oldest is a successful homeschool graduate, and I currently navigate life with three(!) high schoolers, two more in elementary, and a toddler. Having been blessed with generous and experienced mentors both locally and online, I am confident that I can help you in kind. There are many ways to approach high school, and the options for outside classes have increased ten-fold in recent years. It is less overwhelming than you may think. You can do this, too!
A life-long learner always ready to master new things, I promise to bring my natural flexibility, unflappable spirit, calm assurance, and sense of humor to every consultation.
