Interview Questions
*This is simply a starting point for us, I will likely skip / reduce these questions as we go.
PART 1: The Guild
Tell us your name, what you do, and how long you’ve been part of the Goldthwaite Artisan Guild. Where are we? (Where is the shop located?) How did the Artisan Guild get started, and what makes it unique? Can you tell me about the scholarship the guild members offer? What kinds of artists are represented here? Why does a place like this matter in a town like Goldthwaite? What’s your favorite part of this shop, or do you have a favorite item that’s carried here? What kind of reactions do you get from visitors? What would you say to someone passing through Goldthwaite who’s never been in here? Can you tell me about the Craft Shows that happen in November? **Clip to be used for a Social vid to promote the event. PART 2: Chuck’s Craft
What first got you into stained glass? Can you walk us through your process—what goes into creating one of your pieces? Do you have a favorite piece you’ve made—or a story behind one that means something to you? What do you want people to feel when they see your work—or stained glass in general? What’s kept you coming back to the Guild all these years? Sound Bites / Pull Quotes:
Walking into the Artisan Guild Gift Shop is like going on a treasure hunt. (or something similar in regards to the experience of being in the shop) “It’s all handmade, all local, and it’s ours. Stop by and see for yourself.” “It’s kinda like a treasure hunt—you never know what you’ll find. That’s what makes it fun.” “Doors are open Thursday through Saturday. Just come on in.” “We’re right here in downtown Goldthwaite. Come on in, take your time, and see what you find.”
Shot List:
Ext / Establishing
Entrance / door opening / chuck walking in
Interior Overview
Wide pan from entrance to show the space in context Slow walkthrough path from front door to some natural ending place - The place isn’t set up in sections for each artist, the place is set up with pieces of artwork throughout so that walking in is more of a treasure hunt than a retail shopping experience, I would like a shot that alludes to this.
Chuck’s Work
Close up of stained glass, with light shining through, etc. Medium shot of his artwork in context of the store Chuck handling his artwork, pointing or gesturing to specific parts that were mentioned earlier when discussing his creative process. can we mic him as we walk? Wide shot of chuck showing art to “customer” (Letitia or Kale step in) Moving portrait of Chuck standing in front of his work
Guild Variety
Medium / close ups of variety of goods: Quilts, Stained Glass, watercolor, pottery, textiles, crochet animals, wood burning, floral arrangements, turned wood, silk clothing (blouses, scarves, ties), scroll saw-work, local beef(?!) Wide shot of front door from inside of Kale and Letitia entering the shop. This will act as an option for a potential ending clip to pair with a general CTA from Chuck; “ We’re open Thurs - Sat — come on by.”
