Chapter: 17. Globes And Maps

Globe: A model of the Earth, used to understand its actual shape and locate places.
Map: A flat drawing of the whole or a part of the Earth, usually on paper or any flat surface.
Directions: Indicators that show the location of a place on a map or in the real world.
Grid: A system of lines drawn on maps, with numbers or alphabets, that helps to accurately locate places.
Cartography: The art and science of making maps.
Cartographer: A person who makes maps.
Atlas: A book that contains a collection of maps.
Cardinal Directions: The four main directions: North, South, East, and West.
Ordinal Directions: The intermediate directions that lie between the cardinal directions: North-East, South-East, North-West, and South-West.
Compass: An instrument that always points towards the north direction, used to find directions.
Scale: A feature on a map that shows the actual distance on the ground represented by a certain distance on the map.
Symbols: Small pictures or designs used on maps to represent real-world objects and features like cities, roads, or airports.
Key (Legend): A section on a map that explains what each of the symbols used in the map means.
