Chapter: 06. Food We Get From Plants

Trees: Big, tall and strong plants.
Trunk: The hard, thick, woody, and strong stem of a tree.
Bark: The hard covering that protects the trunk of a tree.
Shrubs: Small plants that are smaller than trees, grow close to the ground, and have thin, brown, hard stems.
Herbs: Small and weak plants with thin, green, and soft stems.
Creepers: Plants that have weak stems and creep along the ground.
Climbers: Plants that have weak stems, cannot grow straight, and take the support of walls, sticks, or other plants to climb and grow upwards.
Fruits: Edible fleshy parts of some plants, often containing seeds.
Vegetables: Edible roots, leaves, stems, flowers, or fruits of some plants.
Nuts: Edible seeds of some plants.
Food grains: Edible seeds of some plants, including cereals and pulses, that make up the major part of our food.
Cereals: Seeds of plants like rice, wheat, and barley.
Pulses: Seeds of plants like pea and kidney beans.
Spices: Dried seeds, fruits, leaves, roots, or barks of some plants that are added to food to make it tastier, and give color and aroma.
Oil: A substance obtained by crushing the seeds of plants that are rich in oil, used for cooking, personal care, and product making.
Tea: A beverage made from tea leaves.
Coffee: A beverage made from coffee seeds.
Sugar: A sweet substance obtained from sugar cane stems.
Medicinal plants: Plants that give us medicines and are used to cure various ailments.
