Section D: Short Answer Questions (6 Marks)

The North Pole is the slightly flattened end of the Earth located at the very top.
Water is considered essential because without it, plants and trees cannot grow, and therefore, no oxygen would be available for humans and animals to breathe, making the planet lifeless.
Two gases that make up the Earth’s atmosphere are oxygen and carbon dioxide.
The Earth’s distance from the Sun is important because it ensures the planet receives the correct amount of heat, making it neither too hot nor too cold for life to thrive.

Section E: Diagram-Based Question (3 Marks)

The blue part of the pie chart represents the water covering the Earth’s surface.
The green/brown part of the pie chart represents the land on the Earth’s surface.
Based on this chart, water covers significantly more of the Earth’s surface than land.

Section F: Long Answer Questions (6 Marks)

The Earth is unique because its specific features of air, water, and temperature collectively create conditions ideal for life. Air, in the form of the atmosphere, provides essential gases like oxygen for breathing and shields us from harmful sun rays. Water, covering three-fourths of the planet, is crucial for the survival of all living things, supporting plant growth and animal life. Finally, Earth’s perfect distance from the Sun ensures a temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold, further supported by clouds that regulate heat.
I can personally contribute to taking care of Mother Earth in several ways. Firstly, I can make sure not to litter and always dispose of my waste properly in bins. Secondly, I will try my best not to waste precious resources like water, food, and electricity by using them mindfully. Thirdly, I will actively avoid actions that pollute the land, air, or water. Lastly, I will support efforts to plant more trees and ensure I do not contribute to cutting them down, as trees are vital for our planet’s health.
