Chapter: 04. Gender Equality

The chapter mentions women’s and men’s cricket and football teams as examples of equal opportunities in sports.
The chapter conveys that both boys and girls can do the same kind of work and achieve success in diverse professions, as talent and capability are not limited by gender.
It is important to keep a balance in the number of males and females for the human race to continue living and thriving.
People are sometimes treated differently and unfairly based on the group they belong to.
You will learn about the need to respect one another, equality amongst boys and girls, and that girls and boys must get equal opportunities.
In co-educational schools, girls and boys study the same subjects, play the same games, and take part in the same competitions, quizzes, and debates.
In many families, boys are given more importance than girls, which can lead to unfair treatment.
Women now commonly pursue careers such as doctors, engineers, scientists, astronauts, and athletes.
In some families, men look after the home and women go out to work, showing a change in traditional household gender roles.
Gender roles are the expected ways boys and girls are supposed to behave, dress, speak, and act, which often differ between males and females.
Indira Gandhi was the first and only woman Prime Minister in India.
Unfair treatment of girls and women has often led to them not being allowed to go to school and being married off at a young age.
