Chapter: 02. Understanding Changes

A tradition is a custom or belief that has existed for a long time.
Schools have grown to have more facilities and become bigger compared to those in the past.
A neighbourhood is the area around or near our house, including places like parks, schools, and markets.
Students experience changes such as a different classroom, new teachers, learning new subjects, and making new friends.
Change is considered necessary for progress because it allows for growth, development, and improvement in various aspects of life.
The way we shop has changed from individual shops to large shopping malls where a variety of things can be bought under one roof.
It is every student’s duty to help the new child settle down by making them feel comfortable in the new environment.
To adjust means to change something slightly to make it more suitable, or to get used to a new situation.
Neighbours are the people who live near our house.
Raman’s village grew into a small town with many new buildings, factories, shopping malls, restaurants, and movie theatres.
In ancient Indian gurukuls, pupils lived with their guru, often in the same house, and completed their entire education before returning home.
Adaptability is the ability to adjust to new conditions or situations.
During grandparents’ time there were no computers or mobile phones for games, unlike today’s technology-driven free time activities.
Modern teaching and learning aids used in schools today include computers, smartboards, or tablets.
Roads can be widened, new buildings can be constructed, or new shops can be set up.
Shantiniketan is a school started by Rabindranath Tagore, which began with a few students and is now a world-famous university.
Facilities refer to buildings, services, or things that are provided for a particular purpose.
