Chapter: 11. Cleanliness, Health And Hygiene

Personal cleanliness is important because it is the first step towards keeping our surroundings clean and helps keep germs away, preventing sickness.
Campaign ambassadors help to make the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan successful by promoting its message and encouraging participation in the cleanliness drive.
We should not speak while eating because it can cause us to choke on our food.
A good sleep of about eight hours at night is necessary to feel fresh and energetic.
We should not bite our nails because nails and nail beds can harbor germs, which can then enter our body and cause sickness.
We should wash our hands before and after meals, after using the toilet, and after playing.
Roads, buildings, plants, parks, animals, soil, air, and water all form a part of our surroundings.
The main mission of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is to clean Indian cities and villages across the country.
Bathing daily is important because it keeps us fresh, smelling good, and contributes to our overall fitness and health.
Garbage refers to things that are no longer useful or wanted and are thrown away.
Chewing food well and eating slowly aids digestion and prevents choking, contributing to a safer eating experience.
Eating stale food can make us sick because it may contain harmful bacteria or toxins.
The three types of food necessary for our body are body-building foods, energy-giving foods, and protective foods.
Body-building foods like milk, eggs, and nuts are essential as they help to make our bones and muscles strong.
Oiling our hair regularly helps in getting rid of dandruff, prevents hairfall, and improves the texture of our hair.
Plastic pollution kills a large number of sea creatures, estimated up to one million annually.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched on 2 October 2014, at Rajghat, New Delhi.
We should not allow water to collect in our surroundings because insects, like mosquitoes, reproduce in stagnant water and can bite us, causing illness.
Oral hygiene means maintaining cleanliness of our mouth and teeth by practices like brushing and rinsing.
We should wear clean and washed clothes every day because dirty clothes can contain germs that may lead to skin problems or infections.
We should wash our hands after playing with pets because pets can carry germs that might transfer to our hands and cause illness.
We can prevent smelly feet by keeping our feet clean, especially if we wear shoes all day without socks, to avoid germs coming in contact with sweat.
Getting up early in the morning is a simple habit that contributes to feeling fresh and energetic.
