Introduction

It's time for Feuding Families!
This doc is meant to power a game of Feuding Families for you to enjoy, especially remotely! Haven't played before? Skip over to to read how to play.
This section describes how the doc is built and how it should be used.

Playing the game (for contestants)

Playing the game is easy! Simply head on over to and hang out. There, you'll find the current category & information on the current round, the Survey Board, and the scoreboard.
When it's your turn to face off, be quick and press your team's button as soon as you have a response!
The host will do the rest for you (except playing, of course).

Running the game (for Harvey Host)

We know you've got a lot on your mind, since you're in front of the camera and have to be charming and engaged the whole time. We've made this as easy as possible for you (but we assume you're familiar with the rules). Head over to to run the game.
All of the following fields will update on the players' view as soon as you update them, so be careful!
Current category: the category in play. The number at the beginning is the number of responses, so you don't have to remember and can know before you click.
Buzzes: shows when the players have pressed the "buzzer" button. This is used to determine who buzzes first in face-off rounds. You can safely delete rows from this table after you've resolved each face-off round. Alternately you can have players yell it out.
Face-off checkbox: activates the buzzers. Make sure this is checked TRUE when you are in face-off, or your players will not be able to buzz!
Active team: the team that is running the round. Update this when a team wins the face-off rounds.
Strikes: the number of times a team has gotten an answer incorrect.
Current board: this shows you all the responses to the category selected, and allows you to reveal them or mark them as correct. When a contestant gets a response correct, check "reveal" and "correct". When you're revealing the response at the end of the round, only mark "reveal".
Teams: View the teams, their members, and the score! Use this to keep track of turn order as well.
Winning team: Use the green button to assign the points to the winning team. Remember only the points that were correctly guessed will be given!
That's it!

🛠 Nuts & Bolts 🔩

It's easy to set up or modify the game! A number of categories and responses come pre-loaded—more than enough for a full two-hour game. If they're not your style, you can add to or replace them easily. We'll take a look here at the structure of the tables.

These are the base of the game. Each row in this table is a correct answer to the survey. In other words, this is what the contestants are guessing. A Response has:
the actual response
the point value
its rank (first most popular, second most popular, etc)
a category select
two checkboxes: "Revealed" and "Correct"
calculated display fields for the response and the points value

This table represents the category for each round of the game (i.e. one survey question). This table runs mostly on automatic, and is built so you can do the majority of input in "Responses". Each category row contains:
the category
the total point value (calculated)
the number of responses (calculated)
the responses themselves (linked)
the number of points scored so far in the category (calculated)
the team which scored the points (selected)
a display column for the player's view
I recommend adding new categories by inputting the responses directly. You can create a new row in Categories when when adding a new response—look for the "+" button in the category selector.

Players

This table contains the players! You can input their names and select a team for each of them.

Teams

This table contains team names, the players on each team (linked), the points won so far (calculated), and the categories won by that team (linked). It runs itself pretty automatically once you attach people to teams. This is where you'd edit team names, if you want to, for whatever reason.
