2024 Planning

In this document, you will find detailed overviews of the features we have proposed or analyzed to date. These features can be categorized
Flight Features: these are the features that would improve, enhance, or add-on to any part of the flight experience (from searching/booking to pre-flight, in-flight, post-flight)
Social Features: these features are related to the creation of a social community within the club
Growth Features: features designed to help further business goals throughout the conversion funnel
Improvements: these are ways we can further develop features we’ve already built in a way that helps improve the app experience as a whole

Functional Priorities

TTI Zenith: Special Services

Special Services (SS) are a critical component when it comes to completing a booking within Zenith’s ZPI. Depending on flight/passenger parameters, Zenith’s API will request a specific set of Special Services. If we are missing any of the required SS’s, the booking cannot be completed.
This is something we would like to ‘solve’ by developing a dynamic form would require users to input any missing SS information in order to complete the booking. By doing it this way, we avoid requiring the user to provide all possible SS information up front.

Flight Features

Flight Tracking (Minimal)

This iteration of Flight Tracking would be the most basic version of the feature. Inspired by JSX’s flight tracking feature, we would simply provide users with real-time flight status updates. Using FlightAware’s AeroAPI, we would show users estimated departure/arrival time.

Flight Tracking

Pre-Flight Tracking

This feature would be designed to provide passengers with useful information about their departure. This could include providing the user with the time they must arrive at the FBO by (based on departure time), as well as a real-time departure estimate.
Objectives:
Provide passengers peace of mind that their flight will depart on time
Provide passengers with explicit arrival expected to arrive at the FBO

[Planning] EMP » Flight Tracking (Pre-Flight) [Mock] 2.png

In-Flight Tracking

This feature would provide passengers with a real-time arrival ETA based on estimates provided by [flight tracking API]. This information can be displayed in plain text.
In addition to arrival ETA, this feature could be developed further to also include a live flight map. If we do not have in-seat IFE displays, this feature may be very important to our passengers as they will otherwise not be able to see the aircraft’s current location.

Flight Experience

Black Car Pickup Service

The Black Car Pickup feature aims to integrate airport transportation scheduling within the EFC app for its members. After , it has been determined that
is the most suitable solution for EFC's requirements. This analysis will outline the benefits and challenges associated with this choice.
Why Uber Central?
Uber Central stands out as an optimal solution for several reasons:
Minimal Development Effort: Compared to alternative solutions, Uber Central requires minimal development, ensuring a cost-effective and timely implementation.
Extensive Driver Network: Leveraging Uber's large network of drivers, the service can be readily available at all EFC airports, with the potential to scale for accommodating all 28 passengers if needed.
Location & ETA Tracking: EFC gains the capability to track member locations and estimated time of arrival (ETA), enhancing overall user experience and operational efficiency.
Despite its advantages, Uber Central's lack of an API presents some specific challenges:
Manual Booking Process: All rides must be manually booked by an EFC team member, requiring users to request rides within the EFC app. Modifications or cancellations necessitate user contact through support chat.
No Ability to Display Ride Details Ride details, such as pickup ETA and driver information, can only be provided via text or the members' personal Uber account, restricting in-app visibility.
Conclusion
While Uber Central presents clear advantages, such as low development costs and reliability, challenges related to human error and limited user modification options must be acknowledged.
The pivotal decision revolves around determining who will cover the ride expenses. Resolving this issue is imperative before proceeding further with the integration to ensure a seamless and efficient implementation of the Black Car Pickup feature.
Question: Who should pay for black car pickups?
There is one critical question that must be addressed: payment responsibility:
If EFC bears the cost, the integration is straightforward, with payments processed through the EFC card or bank account.
If users pay directly from their wallets, complexities arise, as EFC currently syncs payments and wallet balances through Zenith. If user is required to pay for black car service, this charge would need to be accounted for within Zenith. This wouldn’t be an issue the cost for each ride was fixed. Because ride cost is variable, it would require EFC to manually charge the member for the pickup within Zenith (as an ancillary service) post-flight. Adjusting for variable ride costs would require meticulous manual deductions post-ride, potentially leading to operational challenges.
This challenge could be minimized by charging members a fixed price for each ride (i.e. $100/ride no matter what). In this scenario, we could hard-code the charge after user requests pickup.

Carbon Offset Program

TTI has announced a partnership with CarbonClick to, “...deliver a fully integrated voluntary carbon offsetting solution for all of TTI’s airline customers.” [].

Questions:
[EFC] Will carbon offsets be optional or mandatory?
If mandatory, development will be very minimal. If optional, we will need to show users the option to offset carbon during the booking flow. If enabled, we will need to update price of flight via TTI.
[TTI] Will CarbonClick options be made available via the API?

Member Score & Leaderboard

This feature has one objective in mind: gamification. The idea behind this feature would be to add game dynamics to the EFC member experience. In its simplest form, this could be done by creating a basic scoring system that would quantify a members’ engagement. The simplest way for us to do this would be to use ‘miles flown’ as a users’ score. Once we have a scoring system, we could introduce 'member leaderboards' to allow our members to track their progress, Additionally, this feature could be further developed to introduce a rewards system, similar to frequent flyer programs, where a members' points can unlock perks and other rewards the more they fly with us.
Embark on an exhilarating journey of engagement and rewards with the introduction of the 'Member Score & Rewards' feature, designed to infuse gamification into the heart of the EFC member experience. This innovative feature not only quantifies a member's engagement through a scoring system based on miles flown but also introduces enticing rewards that elevate their aviation adventure.
Initial Components:
Member Score - Miles Flown: Quantifying Engagement: Establish a dynamic scoring system based on miles flown, transforming each journey into points that contribute to a member's overall score. This simple yet powerful metric becomes a tangible representation of a member's active engagement within the EFC community.
Leaderboards and Progress Tracking: Fueling Friendly Competition: Introduce member leaderboards, allowing individuals to track their progress and compare scores with fellow members. This competitive element adds a layer of excitement, inspiring members to elevate their engagement and climb the ranks.
Potential Components:
[Potential] Personalized Milestone Celebrations: Achievement Unlocked: Celebrate members' milestones with personalized notifications and achievements as they reach significant score thresholds. These milestones become moments of recognition, fostering a sense of accomplishment and motivating members to continue their journey.
[Potential] Rewards System - Frequent Flyer Perks: Unlock Exclusive Perks: Elevate the gamified experience by introducing a rewards system. Members can unlock exclusive perks and rewards based on their accumulated scores. Whether it's priority boarding, access to VIP lounges, or complimentary upgrades, these rewards enhance the overall membership value.
[Potential] Tiered Reward Levels: Progressive Advancement: Implement tiered reward levels that correspond to different score thresholds. As members accumulate more miles and increase their scores, they unlock progressively more valuable and exclusive rewards, creating a continuous incentive for engagement.
[Potential] Redeemable Points System: Flexibility in Redemption: Introduce a redeemable points system, allowing members to choose how they want to use their earned points. Whether it's for flight discounts, merchandise, or unique experiences, this flexibility adds a personal touch to the rewards system.
[Potential] Social Recognition and Sharing: Share Your Success: Facilitate social recognition by allowing members to share their achievements and rewards on the EFC social network. This not only amplifies their sense of accomplishment but also encourages friendly competition among the community.
The 'Member Score & Rewards' feature transforms the EFC member experience into an exciting game of achievements and privileges. By blending engagement quantification with a rewarding system, EFC not only gamifies the journey but also enhances the sense of community and camaraderie among aviation enthusiasts. Relevant Event Calendar Integration

This feature would display events happening in or near the destination within 3 days of the flights' arrival.

Improvements

Find Flights UX

In the EFC app, the ‘Find Flights’ UX is the steps a user will take in order to ‘find’ a flight. This includes everything from ‘searching’ where the user selects the departure/arrival airports and departure date, to the ‘browsing’ where user looks through potential flights before making a decision, to the flight details screen.

Airport Selection

Initially, we had planned to only launch at two airports: HPN + BUR. Because of this, we decided to skip adding an ‘Airport selection’ feature. Now, there are plans for EFC to fly to additional airports. As a result, we will need to build a selection feature where users can select the airport they want to fly from/to.
[Spec] Feature » Find Flight - Airport Selection (2023-12-15).jpg

Date Selection

Currently, the EFC app Though we currently do include a calendar view within our ‘Find Flights’ section, it does not provide users with the information necessary to help them find a flight.
In the new design, we’ve simplified the color designations and added important context for each flight—specifically by showing the number of available seats (only if there are less than 10).
[Spec] Feature » Find Flight - Date Selection (2024-01-09) 3.jpg

Flight Details

Introducing the new 'Flight Details Card' – a meticulously crafted component designed to enhance the EFC member experience by delivering vital flight information in a clean, intuitive manner. This feature is strategically aligned with our commitment to excellence, offering numerous advantages that contribute to operational efficiency and member satisfaction.
Key Points:
Optimized User Experience: Clean and Intuitive Design: The 'Flight Details Card' is engineered with a focus on user experience, providing a visually clean and intuitively designed interface. This ensures that members can effortlessly access and comprehend crucial flight details without unnecessary complexities.
Efficiency in Decision-Making: All-in-One Information Hub: By consolidating essential details such as date, departure/arrival airports, departure time, flight duration, and seat availability, the card becomes an information hub. Members can make informed decisions swiftly, streamlining the flight selection process.
Efficient Information Delivery: Streamline the way members access crucial flight details with our Flight Details Cards. This feature optimizes the presentation of date, airport details, departure time, flight duration, and seat availability, enhancing the efficiency of their decision-making process.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency: Internally, the Flight Details Card simplifies operational processes by presenting essential information in a clean and intuitive manner. This efficiency ensures smoother operations, contributing to overall company productivity.

Home Screen Customization

The ‘home’ screen— otherwise known as the first screen a user sees when they open the app-- is one of the most important screens within any app. It is important to make sure this screen is not only engaging and useful to the user, but also considers the business’ goals and KPIs. Successful apps tend to find creative ways design the home screen in a way that balances user and business goals.
Users want to see content and information relevant to them. while also optimizing the design to make certain actions more likely—in a way that will further business goals.
» Call to action: Highlight actions the user should take (i.e. update payment method, provide required information, etc) » Curate: Show curated content based on users’ previous activity (i.e. show user a list of their previously viewed flights) » Remind: Display important information specific to the user (i.e. when and where they need to arrive for their flight) » Advertise: Provide information to users (i.e. show users EFC has added a new route)

Here are a few examples of how similar companies utilize their home screens:
