Step by Step Guide

Sign-up for a

bit.ly⁠

account (It’s free!)

bit.ly⁠

Generate your

bit.ly⁠

access token

Visit

https://app.bitly.com/settings/api/⁠

Under API, Access Token section, enter your

bit.ly⁠

password, then click Generate Token.

💡 If you signed up for
bit.ly⁠
using Single Sign-On (Like Google), you will need to logout, use their Reset Password link to generate a password. Without this, you won’t be able to get through this step. 🙏

Select the access token on the screen, and copy the token to your clipboard.

⁠

Go back to your doc, and add your

bit.ly⁠

access token to the doc.

Click Insert at the top right of your doc

⁠

Under Insert, click on Packs

⁠

Under Packs, click on URL Shortener.

⁠

Click Settings, then Add a shared account

⁠

In the dialog, click Add New Account

⁠

Paste your Bitly access token into the textbox, and click Continue.

⁠

Your account should then be listed under Shared accounts

⁠

At the top of the doc, enter a new URL in the Long URL box, then click Shorten URL button.

⁠

A new URL will be generated based on the URL you’ve entered. 🎉
