I have colleagues working on NASA funded research for the Mars mission. They focus on team research aka how to fly to Mars without killing your colleagues.

There is something magical about achieving something you always wanted. You feel like telling everyone. But what is behind this sharing of good information? What is the intention? What are the consequences?

Why you should not post about your win

This is not going to be an exhaustive list of why you should not share your wins. Which ones would you add to the list?
Bad intention: You only want to brag about it, show off how good you are. Your intention is sinister: You want to make other people feel jealous. F*** off if this is you. Not sure what other people have done to you, that you feel you need to make other people feel shit.
Pure luck: You did nothing to achieve it. For example you won in the social class lottery. The one where you are lucky to be born into the right family, at the right time and place. Good for you. Enjoy it. But that is not an achievement. That's being lucky.
Secret: You are a spy and it is a top secret mission.

Why you should post your win

Again, the list is not exhaustive. Let me know which ones I should add to the list.
Celebrating together: You are happy and want to share the happiness with others. Celebrating alone isn't fun.
Visibility: You want to show the world that people like you can achieve these things. This is not about making others feel jealous, but about motivating those that have a similar background to you. It's about telling them: Yes, you can also do it.
Gratitude: You are grateful for the help you have received from others and what to thank them publicly.
In the end, decide for yourself. It's your achievement (I'm assuming it isn't just luck). Tell it to your close circle of friends or shout it off the digital rooftop(s). Whatever you do, enjoy what you have achieved (unless, of course, you want others to be jealous about your achievements). You have made the path easier to walk for others. Look back, reach out, and help the person behind you.
