The Opportunity
We are in the midst of re-branding and moving our site over, which creates an incredible opportunity to make a mark, both design-wise and reaching even larger audiences.
What You’ll Do
Car Edge currently helps members buy a car through multiple channels, and partners with multiple businesses to offer services (ex. repair and maintenance) and products (ex. auto insurance, and extended warranty). As our company grows and thrives, we need a UX Lead/Principal to level-up and shape the next generation of our product. This role is a mix of hands-on doing, big picture thinking, and solid communication.
You will be responsible for leading and executing on the product vision and defining the UX/UI for our product: a cohesive app that guides consumers (and saves them money) throughout their automotive journey.
This entails:
Designing with a deep understanding of business goals and user needs
Defining best practices, patterns, and design principles
Owning, producing and contributing to artifacts such as user flows, prototypes, and screen-level UI from low- to high-fidelity
Expertly communicating and presenting design decisions
Refining our design system
Leading or participating in user research
Setting standards, inspiring, and motivating
What We’re Looking For
At least 4 years of hands-on UX experience, at a senior level or higher
Seed- or early-stage startup environment in the consumer space
Designing mobile-first, responsive web-based apps in an agile environment with bi-weekly releases
Hands-on experience designing around data and content, which includes working with APIs and resolving varying user scenarios
High aptitude in Figma/FigJam, including prototyping and design systems
Experience in automotive a plus; if not, a willingness to jump in and learn
Big-picture thinking
Seeing both the forest and the trees, including the current and future state of Car Edge
Navigating trade-offs and right-sizing design
Understanding and owning user task flows, full user journey, and member touchpoints
Designing to outcomes, measured both quantitatively and qualitatively
Solid communication
Leading design critiques; presenting design decisions/point of view and gathering and incorporate feedback
Asking questions, constantly curious - about design and how users respond
Proactively identifying gaps and constantly iterating
Mentoring design team members and sharing knowledge
Hands-on doing
Executing on design details for Car Edge web app on a day-to-day basis
Highly-organized, with an eye for consistency and clarity
Comfortable and confident with design best practices and common patterns
Who You’ll Work With
This position reports to the Head of Product; you’ll work alongside engineering, leadership, as well as outside partners and vendors.
