Seasons

Mortal Kombat 1's Invasions mode brings regular content updates, each centered around different characters and stories. These updates include new challenges, boss fights, and special rewards. Each season typically lasts about six weeks, introducing unique content and narratives to enhance the Mortal Kombat 1 experience.

Each season brings a new theme, challenges, and rewards, encouraging players to come back for new content. When a season starts, various parts of the game are updated. The key areas are Invasions, Seasonal Store, Weekly Quests, Kombat League, and the Seasonal Tower. Most of this content is available only for a short time during the season.

Seasons 1 to 8 first ran from September 2023 to October 2024 and started again in January 2025, offering new skins and gear, especially for the DLC characters, and players can collect items they might have missed before. In each repeat season, some items have been moved to different parts of the game. For example, items that were first in Kombat League might now be in Invasions mode.

How Kombat League Works

Ranked Tiers: Players progress through nine ranks, starting from Apprentice and culminating at Elder God.

Match Format: Matches are best-of-three sets, pairing players against opponents of similar skill levels.

Point System: Winning matches grants points, advancing players through the ranks. However, point gains and losses can vary significantly based on the relative ranks of opponents, making progression more challenging at higher tiers.

Moving up in ranks unlocks special cosmetic items like character skins, gear, and other visual extras such as Kombat Kard Backgrounds and Foregrounds. These rewards are often only available for a limited time, encouraging players to join in during each season.

Each new season of Kombat League typically rewards 2 character skins or palettes for 3 different characters. As of

, 1 of the skins for each of these 3 characters may be found in Invasions mode. Some Kombat League skins haven't moved to Invasions mode during the season repeats and were only available in Kombat League during the seasons initial run.
