Each season brings a new theme, challenges, and rewards, encouraging players to come back for new content. When a season starts, various parts of the game are updated. The key areas are Invasions, Seasonal Store, Weekly Quests, Kombat League, and the Seasonal Tower. Most of this content is available only for a short time during the season.
Seasons 1 to 8 first ran from September 2023 to October 2024 and started again in January 2025, offering new skins and gear, especially for the DLC characters, and players can collect items they might have missed before. In each repeat season, some items have been moved to different parts of the game. For example, items that were first in Kombat League might now be in Invasions mode.
Fighter Mastery
In Mortal Kombat 1, is a system where players can improve their chosen characters. As they play and earn experience points (XP), they unlock different rewards. This system motivates players to spend time and plan to become experts with their favorite fighters. Key Aspects of Fighter Mastery:
Mastery Levels: Each character has a Mastery Rank that can be leveled up to a maximum of 35. Advancing through these ranks unlocks a variety of rewards, including new abilities, cosmetic items, and finishing moves like Brutalities and Fatalities. Earning XP: XP is primarily earned by playing matches with your chosen character across various game modes, such as Story Mode, Towers, Invasion Mode, and Kombat League. Mastery Rewards: Rewards vary by character and may include: Kombat Kard Backgrounds and Foregrounds Premium Store
The Premium Store in Mortal Kombat 1 is an in-game shop where players can buy special cosmetic items using Dragon Krystals, the game's premium currency. These items include character skins, gear, announcer voices, and other visual extras that don't affect gameplay balance.
The store's items change regularly, usually every week on Tuesdays, but sometimes the schedule can change, making item availability a bit unpredictable. As of , the last 4 items in the Premium Store change every day, giving players an opportunity to collect any items that may have been previously missed. Kombat League
Kombat League In Mortal Kombat 1 is a competitive, seasonal ranked mode where players play online matches to move up through different levels and win special rewards.
How Kombat League Works
Seasonal Structure: Each Kombat League season spans several weeks, aligning with the game's Invasion mode seasons. Ranked Tiers: Players progress through nine ranks, starting from Apprentice and culminating at Elder God. Match Format: Matches are best-of-three sets, pairing players against opponents of similar skill levels. Point System: Winning matches grants points, advancing players through the ranks. However, point gains and losses can vary significantly based on the relative ranks of opponents, making progression more challenging at higher tiers. Moving up in ranks unlocks special cosmetic items like character skins, gear, and other visual extras such as Kombat Kard Backgrounds and Foregrounds. These rewards are often only available for a limited time, encouraging players to join in during each season.
Each new season of Kombat League typically rewards 2 character skins or palettes for 3 different characters. As of , 1 of the skins for each of these 3 characters may be found in Invasions mode. Some Kombat League skins haven't moved to Invasions mode during the season repeats and were only available in Kombat League during the seasons initial run.
