Her enthusiasm for AI reflects a broader trend among teachers who are looking for ways to streamline the administrative load that often consumes their time. “My principal has encouraged us to lean into it and not be afraid of the kids getting hold of it,” Harris adds.

This personalized approach is especially valuable for students who may struggle to keep up in a traditional classroom setting. Price argues that AI can “blow the ceiling off” and push students to reach new academic heights, helping them excel beyond expectations.
However, the integration of AI in education is not without its challenges. The U.S. Department of Education has raised concerns about the potential risks associated with AI, including the technology’s ability to produce inappropriate or incorrect content. There are also fears about AI exacerbating biases, as algorithms may unintentionally reinforce stereotypes or produce outputs that reflect societal prejudices.
Moreover, educators are wary of relying too heavily on AI, recognizing the importance of “teachable moments” that only human teachers can provide. AI may excel at delivering content, but it lacks the emotional intelligence and contextual awareness that a human teacher brings to the classroom. As the Department of Education notes, AI is unlikely to replace teachers but can serve as a valuable tool that complements their efforts.
