This Week’s Bible Story
Zechariah gave hope (Zechariah 13–14). Zechariah spoke a message of hope to God’s people. God would one day set up a new and better kingdom with a new and better King. God kept His promise by sending Jesus. Because of Jesus, we can have hope and forgiveness of sins by trusting in Him.
Check-in + Worship
As kids check in, invite them to join their parents in the Auditorium during worship. Once the worship set ends, wait in the back for kids to join you and lead them back to the Zion Kids area.
Connect
Invite the kids to circle up and play the Lame Name Game. Let each kid share their name and answer today’s icebreaker question: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Bible Story
Look up Zechariah 13–14 and teach the Bible passage in your own words. (Optional: Use the story cards provided if you would like visuals.)
Story Overview:
After living in another land for many years, God’s people were finally home! Some of them had traveled to Jerusalem to rebuild God’s temple. They had started the work, but then they stopped because their neighbors didn’t want them to rebuild the temple.
Zechariah gave a message of hope. This is what Zechariah said: “One day, people in this land will only worship God. God will take away the idols and no one will remember these idols or worship them.” God was going to set up a new kingdom.
Zechariah said God would give His people a new King—like a shepherd who cares for a flock of sheep. “There will be hard times, but God will be doing something good,” Zechariah explained.
In this new kingdom, God will judge and punish all bad things. He will lead His own people back to Himself. Zecha- riah said, “The people will call out to God, and He will answer them. He will say, ‘You are My people,’ and they will answer, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

Debrief
How does it feel to know that God can make our hearts clean? Verse 9 says, "The Lord will be king over the whole earth." What would the world be like if everyone followed God's ways? These chapters talk about a special day when everything will be made right. How does knowing God wins in the end give us hope? Activity
Distribute paper and markers to each kid. Invite kids to listen while you read Zechariah 13:1-2. Guide kids to envision what eternity with God will be like when all sin is washed away for good. Invite kids to draw what comes to mind when they think of spending eternity with God.
Allow time for kids to share their drawings. Talk about how we can spend eternity with God when we trust that Jesus was sent to rescue us from sin. Be prepared for any kids who may want to know more about how to be saved through Jesus.
TAKEAWAY: For those who have trusted in Jesus for salvation, there will come a day when sin and suffering will be no more! We don’t have to wait until eternity to be with God. God promises to be with us the moment we put our trust in Him!
Prayer Time
Close your small group time by praying with your kids. This week’s prayer focus is on THANK YOU PRAYERS. Ask the kids in your group, “What is something good that you can thank God for?” Take time to pray for each of the things that were shared.)
