This Week’s Bible Story
Psalm 1 reminds kids that God loves them and gives them strength.
Memory Verse: For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. PSALM 1:6
Check-in + Worship
As kids check in, invite them to join their parents in the Auditorium during worship. Once the worship set ends, wait in the back for kids to join you and lead them back to the Zion Kids area.
Connect
Let each kid answer today’s icebreaker question: What is the best book you’ve ever read?
Bible Story
Look up Psalm 1 and teach the Bible passage in your own words.
Debrief
If you were a tree planted by a stream, what kind of fruit would you want to grow and why? How do you think God helps us grow strong like that tree? Why do you think God cares about the path we choose to walk on? How is the righteous person different from the wicked person in this Psalm? Can you think of a time when following God helped you make a good choice? Prayer Time
Close your small group time by praying with your kids. This week’s prayer focus is on PLEASE PRAYERS. Ask the kids in your group, “Where in your life do you need God’s help?” Take time to pray for each of the things that were shared.
Activity
Pass out the tree cutouts and encourage kids to decorate them using the materials provided.
