This Week’s Bible Story
Peter’s Vision and Cornelius (Acts 10) Peter told Cornelius and his friends that God’s love is not just for a select few. God sent His gift of the Holy Spirit to Jews and Gentiles alike. God’s love and the forgiveness is available to everyone who chooses to believe in Jesus. God welcomes everyone!
Memory Verse: There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. GALATIANS 3:28
Check-in + Worship
As kids check in, invite them to join their parents in the Auditorium during worship. Once the worship set ends, wait in the back for kids to join you and lead them back to the Zion Kids area.

Bible Story
Look up Acts 10 and tell the Bible story in your own words.
Key Story Points:
Cornelius was an officer in the Roman army. He and his family respected God. They weren’t Jewish; they were Gentiles. Cornelius had a vision. An angel told him, “God hears your prayers and knows that you help the poor. Send men to Joppa to bring Peter here.” So Cornelius did. In Joppa the next day, Peter was on the roof praying. In a vision, a huge sheet came from heaven. It was filled with animals. A voice said, “Kill something, Peter! Eat!” There were animals that Jews weren’t allowed to eat. “I can’t eat them,” Peter replied. “If I say they’re all right to eat,” the voice replied, “then they’re all right.” That’s when Cornelius’ messengers arrived. So Peter and some others went with them to Caesarea. Cornelius’ house was filled with his friends and family, eager to hear Peter speak. “God showed me, in a vision, that He accepts people from every nation. God sent Jesus to everyone. He is Lord of all. He healed the sick and freed the oppressed. He was crucified, and then raised from the dead. Everyone who believes in Him will be forgiven of their sins.” The Holy Spirit came upon them — just like Pentecost — and Peter baptized them. Debrief
What happened in Peter’s vision? What did the vision mean? Peter shared with others what God had shown him. How can you follow Peter’s example in your own life? Prayer Time
Close your small group time by praying with your kids. This week’s prayer focus is on PRAISE PRAYERS. Ask the kids in your group, “What is one thing you love about God?” (You may need to prompt kids with ideas.) Take time to pray for each of the things that were shared.
Activity
Lay the strips of colored paper on the tables and invite kids to decorate them by drawing a person on each one (a face, stick figure, etc.). Then help kids staple the papers together to make one long paper chain. Explain how God loves all people and the kingdom of God is made up of many different people — just like all of the different colors in our paper chain.
