This Week’s Bible Story
The people rebuilt the temple (Ezra 2-6). God’s people rebuilt the temple so they would have a place to worship God. Years later, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be with His people. Now, God does not dwell with His people through the temple. Instead, God dwells directly with His people through His Spirit. Jesus provided something better than the temple; He gives us Himself.

Bible Story + Prayer
9:20-9:30 11:20-11:30
Use the Story Cards provided to tell the Bible story to the kids in your group, pausing along the way to ask questions and get the kids engaged. (Optional: Use the storytelling tips below to make the story more engaging.)
Hammer away: Lead children to pretend to hammer something, as if they are helping to build the temple, whenever the word “temple” is said. Identify happy and sad: Guide the children to identify happy (celebrating, completing the temple) and sad (crying, stopping the work) moments in the story. Tell them to make happy faces during the happy moments and sad faces during the sad moments. Introduce this month’s memory verse by saying it out loud and showing them the motions. Have the kids practice by repeating after you.
The person (point to someone around you) who trusts in the Lord (point up to the sky) is blessed. (cross your arms like you are hugging yourself) Jeremiah 17:7 (open and close your hands like a book) Close your small group time by praying with your kids. This week’s prayer focus is on PRAISE PRAYERS. Ask the kids in your group, “What is one thing you love about God?” (You may need to prompt kids with ideas.) Take time to pray for each of the things that were shared.
Craft + Snack Rotations
9:30-10:00 11:30-12:00
Divide the kids into THREE groups. Invite ONE group to take a seat at the table to work on this week’s craft. Supplies will be provided, as well as an example of the craft. ONE group will take a seat at the tables to color. ONE group will stay at the story time area and eat snack. Pass out snacks to each child and encourage small group discussion around this week’s questions.
Who helped rebuild God’s temple? (Helps children understand that many people worked together to build God's house.) How do you think the people felt when the temple was finished?
(Encourages children to connect with the emotions of joy and thankfulness.) Why is God’s house special?
(Invites simple thoughts about worship, prayer, and being close to God.) THIS WEEK’S CRAFT: Rebuilding the Temple. Kids will color and pop out the pre cut and glued sections of the coloring page.
THIS WEEK’S SNACK: Chocolate bunnies
