We’re excited that you would like to organize an event for a segment of the Core Community! This playbook is designed to help make doing so easier and helps to define the role the Underscore and you play in bringing the event to life.
Setting the stage: The Underscore Core Community is an extraordinary community of proven entrepreneurs, business builders, and domain experts in Boston and beyond. Core members have the opportunity to lead events with the backing of Underscore through budget and logistic assistance.
Where Underscore can help:
Suggest other Core members who could be a good fit for the meetup Help arrange space at the Underscore office to meet Create registration page (if a big group meetup) - we use Provide a F&B budget (or order F&B) Keys to a great small group meetup:
Remind attendees about the meetup at least 24 hours in advance and share the names of who else are joining The discussion is moderated by one (or two, max) Core members Topics are either shared in advance or Given by Core members during intros Keep it small—10-12 total people Have a private room and one conversation among all the attendees Create a space to keep it personal and vulnerable - what happens in the room stays in the room Kick off the discussion with intros, sharing one topic you’d like to discuss and something personal (favorite hobby, your superpower, etc.→ facilitator decides this in advance) Optional: Post-meetup, share some learnings / insights on LinkedIn Sample language to share on Slack:
Hi! I'd like to get our {functional name} core group together for a 'touchbase' since it's been a while. If people are eager to get together again, hit ✅ here and if there is a quorum (5+), I am happy to organize. Topics can range from networking to best practices to perception to GTM and everything in between.
