The Lock Inn; Common House Lewes

The Lock inn is a project about community ownership. It combines community led housing with a range of community enterprises that interconnect as part of an ecosystem of enterprises.

Why

We believe in community, that we can live, learn and grow better together. We believe that non-hierarchical power is a basis for strong, functioning and resilient communities that are able to benefit everyone, unencumbering them to become the best that they want to be, whilst supporting them to achieve a low impact lifestyle which will reduce stress. We believe that it is still possible to adapt, transform to bring about this positive change.
We believe that community will reduce personal bureaucracy, reduce isolation and provide an interconnected, equitable way of life. We believe that community benefits everyone, that when it is nourished and nurtured it will be seen as a supportive structure that we can all benefit from.
We believe that community is a pathway to a more resilient, thriving and happier future for ourselves and the environment that we are entwined. We believe in inclusivity, where ownership in the commons, with a flat structure non power based hierarchy can lead to the end of oppression, of discrimination, We do not believe in individual ownership, we believe in the commons, in collective ownership, in community wealth.
