Set up a project & reference image
File → Project Window → New, rename the project
Set Project → choose the folder where I saved the renamed project (Now when click File → Open Scene, will allocate the saved project location
Save/Copy the reference images to the saved project folder → sourceimages
Assume we have reference images for front, right, left, top views respectively:
In the Front viewport of Maya, click the image plane icon (under the “Show” command)
It will open a window directly to the Source Images folder. select the front view reference image
Similar, apply right, left and top viewport images
If all images match and align correct, should be able to see the perspective view like this:
