Drag the plugin file in following:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2019\Support Files\Plug-ins\Effects
Drag the aces folder by creating a new folder OpenColorIO in following:
C:\ProgramData\OpenColorIO\aces_1.0.3
To make the footage bypass AE internal color management, but only affected by OpenColorIO setting:
Open AE, change the setting to 32bpc, and set the project settnig as follow:
Also, untick Use display color management on the top menu of AE (it’s another AE internal color management system)
(Remark: Have to do the steps above before creating the project. i.e. Has to decide in the beginning of the AE project if I want to bypass all internal AE color management. Or else the change later on only apply on preview, not on final result)
Import the footage → Intrepert Footage → color Management → Tick Preserve RGB
If Preserve RGB is gray out, composite the footage → apply effect Color Profile Converter →
Set the input: ACESf ACES Working Space AMPAS S-2014 (tick Linearize Input Profile)
Output: Whatever the footage color profile is (my case is HDTV (Rec.709) ycbcr, but not avaialble on the list. Therefore, seems Rec 709 Gamma 2.4 is the closet to use)
(For CG element layer, just preserve RGB 32 bit is enough, don’t need to apply color profiel convertor and OCIO effect)
Now create an adjustment layer (or directly apply on the background footage), apply OpenColor IO effect on the layer, choose Configuration as ace 1.0.3
Input space (based on the footage, i set sony slog2), output as ACESg
Create adjustment layer name as ACEScg-slog 3, apply opencolorIO set as
Input: ACEScg, output: Sony slog2 (i.e. opposite to previous setting)
Create 2nd adjustment layer name as Look, set as:
Input Sony Slog2, Output: Rec 709
Summary:
Optional:
Create 3rd adjustment layer name as FX, apply camera lens blur (to test if the black color area be eated out by white area?)
(Blur radius 50, tick Repeat Edge Pixel)
Set top 2 adjustment layers to guide layer (R click):
Then if create precomp this layer, don’t have to apply OpencolorIO effect on that 2 top layers again on each precomp (save time)
Some Effect (e.g. Mocha AE CC) on AE may force to apply internal AE color mangement system, then it has to use colro profile Converter again on the footage, set input as sRGB LEC619.., output as ACEScg
Then create adjustment layer and place just above the footage, and apply the Mocha effect
