As you saw, the published form did not save the form results because the doc is in play mode.

If you want to keep your doc in “play” mode but you want your users to be able to edit your form (and save their submissions) we need to publish the FORM and embed it into our doc that’s in play mode. This is simple enough to do. :)

The very last step is to EMBED our published form into our doc that’s in play mode. Let’s do that now.

Now that I’ve copied the link to the published form, I can embed it.

This embeded form (unlike the form above) will let our users submit saved responses in our play mode doc.
Now let’s look at our updated published doc. It should have 2 forms. One form that’s in play mode and the other with saved responses.
