Your CV represents your professional communication style, so make it clear, concise, and impactful - use it to show you understand what your audience needs to know.


Consider the following:

Keep it concise and relevant: The best CVs show context, relevant skills and impact within 1–2 pages. If yours runs to 3, it likely means there’s material that can be trimmed or better tailored to what the reader needs. Focus on the last few years, unless earlier work is directly relevant. Avoid long, unfocused lists.
Give company and product context: Add a short description of each employer’s sector, scale, and product so the reader can understand the scope.
Lead with impact: Open each role entry with your most important results. Use the goal → what you did → measurable outcome structure. Example: “Optimised API endpoints, reducing latency from 1s to 300ms and increasing checkout conversion by 8%.”
Quantify your impact: Use metrics to make results tangible. Provide before/after data where possible.
Show tools in context: Name the key technologies, tools, or frameworks you used in each role, and explain how you applied them to achieve results. Avoid dumping long, unordered lists of keywords.
Make it easy to scan: Use a clean, consistent layout with clear headings, bullet points, and appropriate white space. Avoid dense text blocks.
Avoid clichés: Demonstrate qualities like teamwork or innovation through examples rather than generic phrases.
Tailor for each application: Reflect the language and priorities in the job description, and weave relevant terminology naturally into your content.
