Acceptance to LC summer candidacy

Dear Inoh in Christ,

Good spending time with you this week (as always) and apologies on the delay.

I have taken time to read and consider your application to the summer Candidacy. I am happy to inform you that after reflection and prayer you have been accepted to the Legionaries of Christ Candidacy 2023. I look forward to working with you this summer!

Here are some important next steps:

Phase II of the application is attached. Please know we are in the middle of moving to an on-line application but the process will not be finished later this spring. Meanwhile, we will continue to use the traditional form. We will be asking you to “scan” your application at some point prior to the summer.

Given that the gathering of these different documents can be quite a time intensive task, please start collecting these documents now. It is very important that you arrive to the summer program on July 5th with PART II complete and ready to submit. I highlight the reference letters and the academic documents asked for - they are particularly difficult - please let those persons/school you know that you will need the reference letters/documents no later than by June 10th . This way they arrive to you in time for you to have everything ready and complete.

As you know, there will be a pre candidacy gathering in Atlanta May 26-29th for all the those accepted to the summer program. We encourage you to plan now and make sure you can be present for that experience.

It is customary that I speak to the parents of each candidate but given your advanced age this is your call. Please let me know your thoughts. Umma can speak after June 5th

Regarding the psychological evaluations, I will connect you to Dr Ann Howe here in ATL so you can arrange things with her for the days after our pre candidacy gathering.

Week two of the summer program will include a backpacking trip to New Hampshire. A packing list is attached that we used last year for both for the summer and for that hiking trip to help you prepare for the candidacy.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I copy the Aspirancy Director Fr Joseph Brickner and Fr John Van Dorpe on this who are helping this summer.
