The purpose of this role is to perform structural analysis of component parts and provide design recommendations to cross-functional teams. In this role, you will be responsible for developing projects from inception through implementation, owning your work, assisting and learning from engineering mentors, and working across groups.
What You’ll Do
Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate for strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
Finite element analyses of engine components and complete assemblies using best modeling practices.
Develop allowables from novel materials.
Author analysis tools for designers to use in sizing new parts (scripts, spreadsheets, etc...).
Basic Qualifications
U.S. Person status
Undergraduate Sophmore or above pursuing a BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related discipline
Understanding of statics and free body diagrams
Experience with CAD software such as Solidworks
Bonus Qualifications
Experience in rapid prototyping, designing to take full advantage of 3D printing tools
Experience with Python, Julia or Matlab
Experience performing structural analyses in FEA (static, modal)
Experience developing, running, and validating models
