About the Role

As an Industrial Designer at Whisper Aero, you will be at the forefront of creating innovative and functional designs for a wide range of products. Your work will not only emphasize aesthetics but also the user experience, ensuring that products are both visually appealing and easy to use. You won’t just be designing products; you'll be shaping experiences that resonate with our future customers and adhere to our commitment to excellence and innovation.

Your core responsibility is to bridge the gap between aesthetic appeal, functionality, and user experience under strict aerodynamic constraints. In doing so, you will collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams to help materialize your vision.

The successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable working under engineering design constraints, who is open to working on conceptual products that may not enter the market, who is willing to support non product-based areas that require graphic/UI/UX design, and who is comfortable working with their hands as well as working at a computer.

What You’ll Do

Practice user-centered design approach to translate consumer insights into meaningful product solutions that will delight consumers both on an emotional/experiential and functional level

Develop, refine, and manage 3D design, related specifications, and artwork for products from concept to production

Conceptualize and visualize concepts through high quality sketches, illustration and renderings 

Generate high quality and suitable materials for presentations 

Create visual and functional prototypes for research and internal review 

Articulate and specify design intent by creating specifications detailing fit, finishes, color, graphics, etc. 

Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards 

Support graphic and UI/UX design for marketing materials, website content, and presentations

Craft Whisper Aero’s design language

Basic Qualifications

US Person Status

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or similar discipline, or comparable work experience

2-3 years of experience rendering designs in aircraft, drones, vehicles, industrial appliances, consumer devices or a related field

Proficiency with 3D rendering programs such as Keyshot or Blender to generate photorealistic renders and animations

Graphic design skills including sketching, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. 

Proficiency with CAD – Solidworks, Modo, or Rhino required 

Ability to work within strict engineering requirements with an understanding that in aerospace form equals function

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and part design 

Strong analytical thinking that leads to creative solutions and innovative ideas 

Strong detail orientation with ability to work quickly without compromising quality 

An original portfolio of creative work that demonstrates a product development process

Bonus Qualifications

Video editing experience (e.g., Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro)

Website design (e.g., Webflow)

Videography/photography experience (Adobe Lightroom)

Prior experience in aerospace rendering

Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to innovate design solutions within engineering constraints 

Solve complexly bounded problems creatively

Understand Whisper Aero’s brand and help define the company’s future product development strategies 

Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of the full product development cycle with ability to navigate through technical and business constraints for achieving the best possible quality outcomes 

Drive innovative approaches through emerging product trends or new technologies  

Seek engineering guidance when considering design choices that may impact aero performance
