Embedded Systems Intern

Location: Nashville, TN

About the Role

Whisper Aero is seeking an undergraduate or graduate level engineering student to join us for the Spring or Summer of 2024 as an Embedded Systems Intern. The purpose of this role is to develop embedded systems for powertrain components including propulsor control unit and powertrain test systems. The candidate will work closely with the Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Testing departments on furthering our work on quiet electric propulsion.

What You’ll Do

Design and implement an embedded system for motor control unit
Develop a motor testing software that automates test, data collection, and post processing using a motor drive, dynamometer, and a power analyzer.
Develop low-level microcontroller drivers to integrate various sensors

Basic Qualifications

US Person Status
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level engineering degree such as Electrical or Computer Engineering
Languages: Python, C/C++
Tools: Git, logic analyzer
Experience with microcontrollers

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with hardware-in-the-loop system development
Experience with tools: SPICE (or equivalent), Altium (or equivalent)
Fundamentals of AC electric motor and control algorithms
Proficiency with CAN protocol
