Aerodynamics Intern

Location: Crossville, TN
About the Role
Whisper Aero is a next-generation, air propulsion company that delivers thrust more cleanly, efficiently, and quietly than ever before.
Whisper is seeking undergraduate and graduate interns for 2023 Spring, Summer, and Fall internships. In the internship role, you will be responsible for developing projects from inception through implementation, owning your work, assisting and learning from engineering mentors, and working across groups. Interns are provided housing and competitive pay.
In this specific role, the candidate will primarily assist the flight sciences team with performing aerodynamic analyses on air platforms. Secondary responsibilities may include helping with mechanical design, prototyping, and testing tasks as needed.
What You’ll Do
Set up and run aerodynamic analyses of various fidelities
Perform studies to inform the stability and control characteristics of new air platforms
Work with adjacent engineering teams (propulsion, structures, etc.) to ensure design requirements are met across all disciplines
Process analysis results to derive and disseminate impactful conclusions to the team
Be mentored and trained by senior engineers
Basic Qualifications
U.S. Person status is required, as this position may access export controlled data
Pursuing a BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering or related field
Demonstrated experience with aerodynamic analysis tools (Ex: panel methods, lifting line, vortex lattice, RANS, etc)
Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Basic knowledge of aerodynamics
Strong analytical skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
A willingness to work on tasks outside your primary job functions
U.S. Person status
Bonus Qualifications
Drone or model aircraft experience
Pilot experience and/or aircraft maintenance experience
Structural analysis experience
Demonstrated hands on experience with at least one of the
