Colour - dark colours will not work when printed off in grey scale by the interviewer (Eg Dark Blue could look black printed off)
Skills section - works very well and is used in most I researched. Separating Hards Skills (eg Excel) vs Soft Skills (eg Team Work) is good. If you use ratings, make sure you can qualify them and point to grades or experience.
One sheet - for students. The more you put down, the harder it is for the person to find the great stuff that makes you different and matches with their business needs. Isolate the important information. Make sure lists of non-important information do not take up too much room. (Can compact into a sentence list separated by commas).
Reduce text - some sections do not need headers (Name, Picture, Contact Details, About Me)
Consistency - use sentences, bullet points, point of view (eg 1st person vs 3rd person) carefully
Empathy - even though the document is about you, its also designed for another person who is a busy person. Help them easily find your skills and attributes that match their business needs, and then justify them in your experiences, grades or qualifications.
Final Checks:
Relevant vs Everything. You dont have to put all details down
Glance test. First impressions are important. Does the CV look balanced and well delivered before someone even reads a single word of text
Tips for kan-ban use:
Drag tiles just showing “About me” pics to ranked columns 3,2,1.
Click on the tile to see more detail
Click on the header image to expand it
