Hey Sam, good news! I built this Coda template to make it super easy for you to automatically send a welcome message to new members in your Slack community.
Get started by copying this doc, then follow the 4 steps below.

Step 1: Sync in a list of all your Slack users

This pulls in all the users in your Slack workspace. Once you have all your users synced in the table below, move on to step 2.

Step 2: Send new users a welcome message

Click the green button to send the user a welcome message. Like Sam requested, this will send a Slack message as a personal DM (not a bot)!

Step 3: Put this process on auto-pilot

If you’d rather not push the send button manually for every new user, this Coda doc can do it for you automatically! Here’s how you set that up:
info
Click ⚙️ Settings in the top right of the page. Click automations, then open the Send slack messages automatically every hour rule. Turn it on.

That’s it! Your doc will now welcome new users automatically.

Step 4: Customize the message template

Click the card below to customize the template. Note that if you want to add bullets, bold the text, etc. you can follow Slack’s guidelines
.
