Time Off [US]

Request Leave

If you need some time off, no worries, we've got you covered.
Just log into your account and find the Time Off app. In the app, you’ll see an overview of the available leave policies and your balances. To make a request, find the “Request time off” button.
For most policies, your manager needs to approve your request. Once it’s approved, your time off will be shared on the company vacation calendar. No sensitive details are shared. Note that only an Admin can edit an approved request.

Vacation

We offer a flexible vacation policy. Generally, we expect that everyone takes 3-4 weeks of annual paid time off to recharge. This is a flexible, non-accrual policy, but paid leave always needs to be approved by your manager.
Annual leave does not accrue or carry over to the next year. And if you leave GaeaStar, we will not pay out unused leave.

Sick Leave

Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. So, if you are ill or need to care for a sick family member, you can request paid sick leave. We ask that you inform your manager and Johannes as soon as you know that you won’t be able to work.
You can generally accrue unlimited sick leave in one year, but only up to 72 hours of sick leave will carry over to another year.
For extended periods of sick leave, you can request unpaid leave through Rippling. In those cases, you might be eligible for support from insurances, such as short-term disability.

Federal Holidays

are paid time-off. You do not need to request time off for these days.
Because federal holidays in the US and Berlin are quite different, your colleagues will probably take time off on different days. If you decide to work on a holiday, feel free to request time off on another day.
