Alt text (alternative text) describes the appearance or function of an image on a page.
Alt text is read aloud by screen readers used by visually impaired users, displays in place of an image if it fails to load and is indexed by search engine bots to better understand the content of your page.
On our site, the alt tag pops up when we insert an image
BEST PRACTICES:
Keep the length of your alternative text to 125 characters or less.
Do not use wording “image of ” or “graphic of ” because the screen reader will still communicate this information.
Meaningful alternative text should represent what is being communicated
Please note:
If you cannot avoid images of text, its best to have the exact same text in the alt attribute.
