Scheduling your stays with Flyway

How a Flyway owner shares access with other co-owners, in a fair and equitable way
The reality is that people don’t plan every week of their year in advance.
Flyway
co-ownership strikes this nice balance of having flexibility while also giving people the certainty to secure dates that are important to them. That’s what
Flyway
offers because we want to be reflective of how people actually live and travel.

Access to the home

The access of each homeowner to their Flyway home depends on the number of shares they own:
Each share includes 44 stay-nights. An owner of two shares will have 88 stay-nights, and so on.
The number of stay-nights are tracked on a 365-day basis. For example, if the ownership anniversary date is October 20, 2020, the total number of stayed nights will be counted between October 21, 2020, and October 20, 2021.
The home owners can also book stay nights that exceed their annual stay night threshold of 44 nights, pending home availability. A modest nightly operating fee is assessed to cover operating and ownership costs. The fee is used to offset costs for other owners, and there is no markup added.
Examples:
Homeowner A has not booked 20% of their available stay nights and Homeowner B books them:
The corresponding amount of monthly operational costs will be deducted from the expenses of Homeowner A and will be charged to Homeowner B who actually booked and enjoyed the home.
Homeowner A has not booked 20% of their available stay nights and no other homeowner has also booked these extra days that the home was available:
The full amount of the monthly operational costs will be charged to Homeowner A.

Booking Period

Each owner can schedule a stay up to 24 months in advance of arrival using the Flyway calendar.

Types of Stays

The stays that home owners can book are divided in two categories:

Short Notice
stays

A stay is considered to be
Short Notice
in case the arrival date is 2 to 7 days after the date of booking.
A
Short Notice
stay booking must be for a minimum of 2 nights and a maximum of 14 nights per share owned (an owner of two shares will be able to book a stay up to a maximum of 28 nights, and so on).
There's no limit on the number of
Short Notice
stay bookings.

Advance
stays

A stay is considered to be
Advance
in case the arrival date is 8 days to 24 months after the date of booking.
Owners may
book up to 6
Advance
stays concurrently
, per 1/8 share owned (an owner of two shares will have the option to book up 12
Advance
stays concurrently, and so on).
That means that in case a 1/8 share owner has booked 6
Advance
stays, they will only have the option to book
Short Notice
stays.
Advance
stays booking will resume 7 days prior to the first stay or whenever one of the booked
Advance
stays is cancelled.
Example
:
An 1/8 owner has booked the following
Advance
stays on September 7, 2021:
September 19th 2021 - September 26th 2021 (7 nights)
October 17th 2021 - October 24th 2021 (7 nights)
November 1st 2021 - November 8th 2021 (7 nights)
December 5th 2021 - December 12th 2021 (7 nights)
January 9th 2022 - January 13th 2022 (4 nights)
February 6th 2022 - February 9th 2022 (3 nights)
In this case, the owner has booked all the
Advance
stays (6/6 stays) that they are entitled to book concurrently and so they will
not be able to book any other
Advance
stay
until September 12th 2021 - that is 7 days prior to their first booked stay.
On September 12th 2021, they will be allowed to book one
Advance
stay as their
Advance
stays counter will be set to 5/6. If they choose not to book one, on October 10th 2021 (7 days prior to their second booked stay) they will be allowed to book 2
Advance
stays as their
Advance
stays counter will be set to 4/6, and so on.
An
Advance
stay booking must be for a minimum of 2 nights and a maximum of 14 nights per share owned (an owner of two shares will be able to book a stay up to a maximum of 28 nights, and so on).
A stay with a duration of 2-7 nights counts as 1
Advance
stay, while a stay with a duration of 8-14 nights counts as 2
Advance
stays.
An owner’s arrival date must be at least 7 days away from the prior departure or the number of nights of their last stay (whichever is higher).

Advance
stays on
Special Days

Each owner can book 1
Advance
stay per share owned that falls on a
Special Day
(an owner of two shares will be able to book 2
Advance
stays that fall on a
Special Day
, and so on).
The
Special Days
are configured in the Flyway calendar and owners cannot change them (holidays, national days, etc.).
Special Day
stays must be for a minimum of 4 nights.

Cancellation Rules

Owners can cancel a stay with no penalty 60 or more days before arrival.
Cancellations made 59 or fewer days before arrival will trigger a notification to other owners, alerting them of the newly available dates. If the dates are rebooked by another owner, there is no penalty for the canceling owner. If the dates are not rebooked, the dates count toward the canceling owner’s annual stay night cycle for the year.

Conclusion

The Flyway scheduling app is a sophisticated system that aims to provide all home owners a chance to book their stays in an equitable manner. Its main goal is to make the scheduling process as effective and equitable as possible.
