Day 9: Devotional- "The Divine Journey and a Call for the Death of Self Reliance"

The Divine Journey and the Death of Self Reliance

Devotional Series Cover Image 3 - thumbnail primary.png
January 9th 2024
Genesis 12:1
Then Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, your kindred, and your father’s household, and go to the land I will show you.
2 Corinthians 1: 8-9
For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself.
Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.
Hebrews 13:11-14
Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate, to sanctify the people by His own blood.
Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore.
For here we do not have a permanent city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.

The Lord says, I am taking you to a destination and that destination is into the depths of my very heart."

Friends, adventure is calling. Can you hear its sound?
Today you are being prepared for a divine journey. One that you would not believe if you were told.
Today is rich with purpose. The Lord says to you, "Do not give up, the emptying has a purpose. Continue on with me and you will be filled. The pain you are currently experiencing is teaching you to rely upon me alone.”
Friends, the Fathers true nature has been hidden by those who have masqueraded as his servants. False religion has blinded many to the glory of the Living God. It is our call to unveil the true nature of our Creator. And this unveiling must begin with a revelation of God as Father.
God is shaking everything so that only that which can’t be shaken will remain. (Heb 12:27) Now is the time for us to come to know He who cannot be shaken in greater measure. He is taking us deeper into his heart.
Friend, this journey requires you to come “out of” the place of comfort and normalcy and into a place of wilderness and unfamiliarity. There will be times when everything within you desires to turn back. But you must press on.
We are headed to a place “outside the camp” of organized religion. We are headed to a wilderness place where true freedom is found.
We walk surrounded by men and women who appear to demonstrate great strength. This can often make us feel ill equipped or inferior. But If you and I are to arrive at the desired destination we will need a strength not of ourselves. For this journey, the strength of man will not do.
The strength you and I will need for this journey requires a complete emptying of our natural strength. To be successful in this journey, to be broken and weak is the only prerequisite.
Friends, this world is dying. It has lost the ability to hear Gods heartbeat. You and I are called to restore this in the earth. We are here not to lead people to church, to some man, or a particular denomination, we are here to lead them to the Father Himself.
And If you are to lead them back to His heartbeat, then you must hear it for yourself.
Friends, You and I may come with notions of what a Father is based on our earthly experience. We must lay these experiences aside whether good or bad and ask the Father, “Who are you?” “What are you like?”
A good Father will die for his kids, and our Heavenly Father already has.
Friend, your heart is crying out for more. You know you were not made for this world. You can hear adventure calling. Follow the call of Abraham and Sarah, to leave comfort behind and to go out, “not knowing where you are going.” Knowing that He who calls you is faithful.
You are being asked to leave many things behind, obey this call and you will be richly rewarded.
So as we sail away from the safety of the harbor and out onto unchartered seas, May we allow the winds of Gods spirit to blow us in the direction He desires. May our compass find true north, which is the very heart of God as a mighty, good, and loving Father.
So today, when you face trials of many kinds, thank God for sending them knowing each one is meant to help empty you of self reliance, to prepare you to be filled by the Fathers strength.
He is like an ox, we must only yoke ourselves to Him.
The journey has only just begun….
prayer

Our Prayer

Father, we thank you and praise you this morning simply for who you are. You are a good Father and you have good plans for us. Today we give you all of us, so that we might receive all of you. Give us faith like Abraham and Sarah to journey with you away from what we know and into your divine purpose for our lives. Remind us that we are merely pilgrims here. This is not our home. This morning give us a greater heart for the broken. As we struggle through our daily trials, help us by turning our hearts to you. Bring us to a place of surrender we didn’t know possible. We give you permission. We are weak Father, be our strength. We live to do your will. Amen.

A Word from Our Father

My child, I see you. My eye has always been upon you. I know you do not understand why some of your prayers have remained unanswered or why I have allowed certain situations into your life. But I want you to know this, I am good. And I have good purposes for you. I am your Father, and if you let me I will reveal myself to you in greater measure. And you will find a lasting satisfaction you could never find in earthly pleasures. Will you come away with me? My desire is for you. The best way for you to know me is to get to know my Son. For in Yeshua all the fullness of deity was pleased to dwell. As you come to know the Son, you will come to know me, and we will come and make our home inside of you. And you will become like me. Let me empty you of all self-reliance and you will find that my Presence within you is enough. And together we will lead people out of their brokenness into healing and freedom through the blood of my Firstborn Son Yeshua.
