Lab 07 - DATX Setup and Modification

Introduction:

In this lab, I worked on the Software Modification of the controller, where I flashed the firmware by replacing the OpenTX with EdgeTX V2.7.1

Process:

The controller I worked on was DATX6, part of group 3. The modifications I made were replacing the original software (OpenTX) with EdgeTX, which I completed in the following process.
With a powered-off controller and it plugged into my computer via USB, I went to this site () which is the program used to flash the software of radio controllers like this one.
I received the software as a local file from our TA. Then uploaded it to the website as prompted.
Selected the radio controller by selecting the “STM32 Bootloader” device. Which then prompted my browser to connect the device to the website.
And on the last page, I started the software flash. Which ran automatically for the next few minutes.
My work was pivotal to the team due to changing the software on which the controller operates, standardizing it to Windracer’s specifications.

The other team in the lab, which consisted of Kyle Struck and Alex Delatorre, worked on the hardware modification of the controller (DATX3). And followed these steps to complete.
Review the diagram provided for the Windracers standard modifications.
Disassemble the controller.
Remove all non-standard switches/inputs.
Hot-glue the removed switches inside the casing to keep everything together and out of the way.
Lastly, reassemble the controller.
Their work was pivotal to the team due to the importance of removing additional switches, eliminating the risk of confusion, and increasing the safety of the control station by simplifying it.
