Central Illinois Regional Airport (CIRA)
In May of 2024, I joined the team at CIRA as an Operations Intern. During my time there, I gained invaluable experience. After the formal end of my internship in August 2024, CIRA offered me the chance to return as an intern to help cover shifts and learn snow operations over winter break, December 2024 - January 2025.
CIRA Experience
Supervised airport daily procedures and operations in compliance with 14 CFR Part 139 Held credentials for secure areas, sensitive information, and full movement area driving privileges Worked with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) concerning airport security, including operation of the Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) as well as Airport Security Plan (ASP) compliance Conducted inspections on the airfield and terminal, ensuring compliance with Part 139 and TSA regulations Tasked with the complete tenant/employee badging processes, such as identification verification, review of pertinent data, issuing new and renewed badges, and auditing badging records Assisted with multiple audits consisting of airfield markings, lighting, and NAVAID systems Helped with construction projects for airport improvement, such as BMI’s general aviation hangar project Worked with Third Pillar Solar to pitch a mutually beneficial project to the airport Started an airport-wide gate sign renewal project, consisting of mapping new gate locations, renaming gates, and drafting new signage Assisted in Snow Operations, including the operation of a Halliday Technologies RT3 Friction Testing Platform Gallery
