Research: In-Air Drone Docking under Dr. Ran Dai

Fall ‘23 - Spring ‘24:
2025 update: We got published! Check it out:

Part of a larger team working to automate in-air drone docking, charging, and redeployment. My direct contributions were the docking platform, power delivery system, and integration of the microcontrollers onto each drone.

The docking system is a magnetic, funnel-shaped component mounted below the smaller drone to be charged, with the receiving and opposite end on the top surface of the larger drone. Power is provided to the drone via magnetic connectors and a full-size charger onboard the larger drone.
