Can I fit all electronics under the body of a Hot Wheels car frame?
In early 2025, I removed the die-cast body of my Mystery Machine Hot Wheels car from the plastic undercarriage and brought it to a local lab that let me use their 3D scanner to perfectly map the shell so I could place components with confidence that it would all fit together in the end.
Once my parts arrived from Alibaba, I got to modeling them and placing them into the CAD assembly for optimizing the position. Separately, I assembled and tested the electronics, and all seems to be working. I have servo and bidirectional motor control!
Unfortunately, due to the size of the parts (they are tiny) my ender 3 tolerances struggle to match what is required to get properly meshing gears. A resin printer would work best, but as I am getting to the end of the semester, I have run out of time to get print time and will have to continue in the fall.
All of my electronics are currently stored back at Purdue while I am in California, so I haven’t made significant progress since leaving.
