“yes, and...”

to accept an idea and build upon it

a rule-of-thumb in improvisational comedy that suggests that a participant should accept what another participant has stated ("yes") and then expand on that line of thinking ("and")

assumption of positive intent

starting from the idea that a person meant well or was doing their best, regardless of what they did

psychological safety

the belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes;

a climate of openness around discussing mistakes and learning;

a necessary condition for creating excellence in teams
