E Portfolio Post 9

This week we primarily focused on practicing making flight plans for the believer through Windracers GCS. Our lectures during this week were also focused on this. This has been one of my favorite weeks of the semester as I felt like I learned a lot both in lectures and in labs. It was really cool to be able to make a flight plan and actually be able to see it fly on X plane. One thing I need to work on while making flight plans is making sure that my altitudes are correctly set. I had some landings where the Windracer would land well past the GCS operator which isn’t correct (the Windracer should touch down where the GCS is). It was also nice to get some simulated emergency practice on the flight simulator.
One thing that I want to try with the believer when we start to do our flight labs is doing autonomous landings. Im curious as to whether it is able to land even without a landing gear or if I would need to build one for it. While in class we did talk about some of the challenged for trying to do takeoffs with the believer using custom built landing gears I think that landings are much more feasible.
