Timing Drills

“Half and half” drills: You can do these for any of the three sections, and they help you train yourself to meet strong timing indicators instead of just trying to move faster during the test! Create a drill from the drilling tab with the first 15 LR questions from any PT130-135 and try to get it done in 15 minutes. Focus on balancing timing and accuracy. What strategies will you try out that you have been practicing untimed?
If you don’t finish in the 15 min, keep working and record how long it took you. If it took 18 minutes to get as many right as your current understanding allows, then your goal is to do a different set of the first 15 from another (new! different!) LR section the next day, but shave off a minute or two each time until you get it down to 15. Rinse and repeat for each half-section throughout the week!

first 15 LR in 15 min
First attempt: 28 min (13/15, how? I fully eliminated)
Next goal: 26-27 min (different PT, goal is 13+/15, STILL fully eliminate)
last 10-11 LR in 20 min
First attempt: __ min
Next goal: T-1 min

first 2 RC passages in 15
First attempt: __ min
Next goal: T-1 min
last 2 RC passages in 20
First attempt: __ min
Next goal: T-1 min

Untimed>>Timed for RC (or LR): 1 4-5 star RC passage UNTIMED, trying to get everything you can out of the passage (answer all of the RC Tips q’s in the Additional Resources) & engage with text before getting to questions. Write down 1-3 strategy takeaways that you will hold yourself to using in TIMED practice. Immediately follow this with 1 (new, 2-3 star) RC Passage TIMED and make sure you transfer the UNTIMED strategy takeaways to your practice!
