, the most common reasons teachers cite for leaving the profession include:
Burnout and Emotional Exhaustion (40%)
Teachers express feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained due to excessive workload, administrative responsibilities, and lack of personal time.
Behavioural Issues and Safety Concerns (20%)
Many teachers reported being physically assaulted or threatened by students, with minimal support or intervention from administration.
Lack of Administrative Support (20%)
Teachers often felt unsupported when dealing with challenging situations, resulting in feelings of isolation and frustration.
Low Pay and Financial Stress (10%)
Salary dissatisfaction, particularly when considering the emotional and physical demands, led to many seeking better-paying opportunities.
Health and Well-Being (10%)
Prolonged stress, anxiety, and mental health struggles were frequently mentioned as a tipping point for leaving the profession.
While issues 2, 3, 4, and 5 can only be addressed by the schools themselves, AI tools built to automate and streamline out-of-classroom / behind-the-scenes work can significantly reduce the burden on teachers and prevent burnout. By automating tasks such as grading, lesson planning, and administrative duties, these tools can allow teachers to focus on the more human aspects of education—the very reason they joined the profession in the first place.

Stuff to Explore
Different subjects can have different overheads. For example, a language course would require an AI tool for translation, grammar checking etc. What are such requirements for other subjects? What has MagicSchool missed?
Most of these tools are still primarily limited to the US. What changes would be required to adapt them to other markets? What are the different challenges that teachers there face?
Visual aids. Could AI generation help create these? Or should we just build a simple tool for it?
