3 - Google Analytics & Data Integration

Justificiation

In order to make effective decisions on what content to create, host and update on the eLearning Instructor and Student Resource Sites it’s essential to have data regarding what pages and areas are most visited. This data can also help determine potential training opportunities, communication and other eLearning projects. Current Google Analayics are hooked to the old eLearning Site domains openlcc.net. To get data on our current sites, this must be changed.

Scope

Having proper analytics isn’t just about making sure the plugin is installed properly and pointing to the correct domain, this project will also need proper configuration to ensure edge cases are handled, if possible. For example: Will eLearning staff traffic be tracked? How often will data be revised. How will spam data be filtered? It’s also important to identify the proper depth of analysis. Given the nature of how the analytics are set up and specific to sites, this may need to be done on the live sites rather than on development or test environments—this should have no impact to site performance or stability, but will need to be investigated first.
